What To Do About Alice by Barbara Kerley and Illustrated by Edwin Fotheringham

This is a very cute, easy reading, book about Alice Roosevelt - Teddy Roosevelt's daughter by his first wife. Vocabulary words are BOLDED, so it is a great book to use to teach context clues and word choice (for writing). This book is a Biography and ties in with U.S. History.

My question/writing activity for students: If you were the Presidents child what would your life be like? What expectations would people have for you? Would you go to a public school, private school, be home schooled...? Consider these questions and anything else you would like to add about this question.

Help Me, Mr. Mutt! By Janet Stevens and Susan elStevens Crumm

Being a dog person I had already read this book before it was a blue bonnet and love it! It is a "Dear Abby" type book written from the perspective of dogs. Adults will enjoy the humor as much, if not more then children. This book can be used to teach letter writing skills and point of view - to name just a couple.
